Celebrate Black History Month with live music for all ages!
All are invited to a special Black History Month performance featuring Afro D & Global Soundwaves, a socially conscious local hip-hop/jazz/soul/funk band. The band makes soulful music designed to be heard by people of all ages, bridging the gaps between generations by performing music that appeals to old and young alike. The band’s positive messages are designed to inspire people and build community, both locally and globally.
Meet the band: Pete ‘Afro D’ Shungu (Emcee, Trumpet), J’Lyn Hope (Singer), Mitchell Killough (Bass), Travis Brown (Drums), Lawrence Parks (Saxophone), Elijah Hill (Keyboard)
UFLive! concerts are made possible by the generous support of The Urbana Free Library Foundation.
Please remember that events may be canceled or rescheduled last minute due to unpredictable weather or other factors. We encourage you to reach out to event organizers before heading out to an event to verify it is still happening.
