The Parkland Orchestra will present a joint concert, “Cartoon Classics,” with the Urbana High School Orchestra, directed by Tamra Gingold, on Friday, November 22 at 7 p.m. at the Urbana High School Auditorium in Urbana.
Director Dr. Rodney Mueller will lead the orchestra in performing many selections. These include “Hungarian Dances Nos. 5 and 6” by Johannes Brahms, arranged by Albert Parlow; “The Barber of Seville Overture” by Gioachino Rossini, edited by Clark McKalister; and “William Tell Overture” by Gioachino Rossini edited by William Ryden and Jack Ranney.
The group will also perform “Dance of the Comedians from The Bartered Bride” by Bedrich Smetana arranged by Hugo Riesenfeld; and “Die Fledermaus Overture (The Bat)” by Johann Strauss Jr. edited by Tom Kennedy.
