Summer Twilight Concert on the Quad: June 20 and July 18 at 7 p.m. on the University Quad. The University of Illinois Summer Band meets during the summer session and performs two “Twilight Concerts” on the UI Quadrangle.
The Summer Band’s repertoire includes standard works for band, entertaining contemporary works, and popular selections from a wide array of musical styles. Membership in the summer band is open to all students, band alumni, and community members with an instrumental background. No audition is required.
Join the 90+ musicians in the Illinois Summer Band, Thursday July 18 at 7pm for a free concert!
A tradition begun in 1911 at the University of Illinois by the first Director of Bands, Albert Austin Harding, continues this year with another exciting “Twilight Concert.” The performance will be held on the south side of the Illini Union, on the UI Quad. The varied program of classic band literature and light fare will provide great entertainment for the entire family. Admission is free and be sure to bring your lawn chair or a blanket!
Our tip: Pack a picnic or pick up dinner from a nearby Campustown joint. Don’t like parking on campus? it’s much easier in the summer, but still plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time. Before you go to the concert, go see the new mammoth sculpture.
