Now in its 24th year, Dump & Run® keeps over 30 tons of used, quality goods out of Champaign-Urbana’s dumpsters and landfills each year. This project reduces litter and consumer waste, saves space in landfills, lowers dumping costs for certified housing and apartments and provides inexpensive items for folks to purchase in the fall.
For 2024 Summer Community Collections will begin on Monday, August 5, and culminate with the Big Sale on August 24 and 25. All collections and the sale will be held at the U of I Stock Pavilion, in cooperation with the College of ACES and Department of Animal Sciences.
Spring 2025 Collections for University of Illinois Housing will be coordinated by Facilities and Services, and take place during move-out week in May. Items collected during this period are donated to area non-profits, and are not used for the Big Sale. For more information visit https://go.fs.illinois.edu/ or email recyling@illinois.edu.

2024 Collection Dates:
Monday, August 5: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 6 – Friday, August 9: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday, August 12 – Friday, August 16 – 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
*Late pickup day, Wednesday, August 14 until 7:00 p.m
*Weekend hours, Saturdays August 10 and 17: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
August 2024 Free Pick-Up Days
Free pick-up days for furniture and bikes will be held on Saturdays, August 10 and 17, from 9am-4pm.
On these Saturdays the Y will pick up furniture and bikes for free! Curbside service is preferred.
Please select only ONE day for your preferred collection time. We will do our best to accommodate your preference, however based on the number of responses your collection window may fall outside your selection.
They are only able to pick up large furniture and bikes on these days, if you have smaller items to donate please arrange to drop them off at the Stock Pavilion during the dates and times listed above.
The Big Sale
This year’s sale will be held over move-in weekend on August 24 and 25, and will provide students and community members with low cost goods for their dorms, apartments and homes.
Saturday, August 24:
8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. $4 admission
Free admission for U of I and Parkland students.
Sunday, August 25:
11:00am – 2:00 p.m.: $3 bag sale and 1/2 price furniture
2:30-3:00 p.m.: “Free sale.”
Furniture delivery is available for a $10 fee, and is curbside only.
