Rape Advocacy, Counseling, and Education Services (RACES) is offering an activity-based youth workshop series each Saturday in April (April 5, 12, 19, and 26), from 2-4:30pm. Join in for one or all workshops! Youth who attend all 4 workshops will receive a Youth Engagement and Leadership Certificate, which they can include on their resumes.
This workshop series is for youth aged 13-18 or enrolled in high school. It is free, and snacks will be provided. This workshop is for any youth who wants to learn how to be a good friend and engage in community service.
One exciting part of this workshop series is that the group will create a zine. Youth are invited and not required to contribute to the zine throughout the series. Zines will be distributed throughout the community (e.g., coffee shops, local businesses) and virtually (e.g., on our website and social media).
Workshop topics are:
- Saturday, April 5 – Sexual violence and emotions 101
- Saturday, April 12 – How we think influences how we feel: Appreciating and responding to emotions
- Saturday, April 19 – Appreciating emotions when supporting a friend: Supportive listening 101
- Saturday, April 26 – Moving from “I think/I feel” to what “we” can do, together
