The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) is creating the most detailed map of our nearby universe. Installed on the Mayall telescope on Kitt Peak in Southern Arizona, DESI’s 5000 independently operated robots can measure the light from thousands of galaxies at once. Join us as we explore the science, instrument, and people behind this global endeavor.
Tickets can be purchased online or in the planetarium lobby 30 minutes prior to the first public show of the day. Cash, checks (made out to Parkland College only), VISA, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and PayPal are accepted.
- They apologize for the inconvenience, but they cannot accept bills over $20.
- No gift cards of any kind can be accepted.
Public Show Admission
- Adults: $8
- Children (12 and under), seniors (65 and over), and Parkland students and staff: $7
- Stay for both regular shows on the same evening and get the second show half price!
- Groups (20+): $4 per person (one show) or $6 per person (two consecutive shows)
- Friends of the Staerkel Planetarium members: no charge
