Sola Gratia Farm (*Original Site) 2200 Philo Rd. Urbana, IL
Happy Earth Day! At the heart of the Sola Gratia operation lies sustainable agriculture and they are dedicated to practices such as:
- Soil building and conservation
- Creating habitats for pollinators and wildlife
- Organic, integrated pest management
- Cover cropping
- Crop rotation
- Nutrient management
- Conserving water through drip irrigation
- + Many more!
They also have opportunities for our community to come together and celebrate Earth Day at Sola Gratia Farm!
Come out to Sola Gratia Farm for an Earth Day Event + Community Classroom Open House on April 22 from 4 – 6 p.m. They are excited to offer a public tour of their bee garden, share about their efforts towards supporting local flora and fauna, plant some more native species (weather permitting), and build bee hotels and puddlers for the garden.
Happening concurrently is the first of FOUR Community Classroom Open Houses! This is a wonderful opportunity to explore and engage with our outdoor education space. Make sure to take note of how the Community Classroom looks in April, as you’ll be amazed how much a growing space, like a garden or farm, transforms throughout the season! Attend all four Community Classroom Open Houses, and you’ll be entered into a raffle for some exciting farm goodies! For the April open house, guests can expect a spring garden scavenger hunt, crafting, and building some take-home pollinator supports for your own gardens!
Please remember that events may be canceled or rescheduled last minute due to unpredictable weather or other factors. We encourage you to reach out to event organizers before heading out to an event to verify it is still happening.
