Bring your favorite four-legged friend to dine at these dog-friendly outdoor locations all over Champaign-Urbana
Finding these locations can be a bit of a treasure hunt, so we’ve done the research for you in figuring out where to take your dog the next time you dine out
Not every patio in Champaign-Urbana is a dog-friendly patio, but so many patios are going to warmly welcome your dog to accompany you for outdoor dining. We’ve been watching the outdoor patios in Champaign, Urbana and beyond to see where people like to bring Fido when they want to dine out together.
Have a favorite patio that you know is dog-friendly? Let us know so we can add it to this list. If you have a pic of your dog on a patio, you can include that too!
This list is in no particular order. It goes without saying that keeping your pet leashed is a requirement, and you get bonus points for having a chill pup that will just sit or lay down on command. Have a fantastic family outing that includes your canine too!
Riggs Beer Company, Urbana
Any time of year is a great time of year to visit Riggs — we love how kid-friendly this space is — and thankfully, dogs are more than welcome at Riggs, too. Your pup will be welcome to join you outside in the beer garden and you’re sure to see other dogs there. Dogs are always welcome but you might want to mark your calendar for “Yappy Hour,” held annually in the spring, in which activities for dogs will be plentiful and the most social dogs of C-U gather in one place.
Sun Singer Restaurant, Champaign
Sun Singer’s long and narrow outdoor patio space can be a bustling place at lunch time during the warmer months. Know that dogs are welcome to set up camp under or next to your table and servers might even bring them some water.
Espresso Royale, Champaign (Village Green)
Spotted at the Crossing location, dogs are welcome to accompany their owners for a cup of coffee on the Espresso Royale patio. This is one of the quieter patio locations on our list, so if you’re uncertain how your dog might react to outdoor dining, this might be a good spot to test the waters.
Downtown Champaign (various locations)
Patios including, but not limited to, Cowboy Monkey and Big Grove are dog-friendly. We’ve seen dogs outside Collective Pour, too. Downtown Champaign, in general, is a very dog-friendly space so you may find some of your other downtown favorites also welcome your dog.
Sweet Basil Cafe, Champaign
You may not think of locations on North Neil or North Prospect having patio space, but Sweet Basil purposefully added an outdoor space so it could welcome dogs as part of its clientele. This is one of the few breakfast spots on our list, so if pancakes with your pup are what you’re looking for, you can find it here.
Triptych Brewing, Savoy
Food trucks stop here several days a week and that makes Triptych a great spot to bring your dog to accompany you for a meal (and drink, too). Kids and dogs welcome here, under the supervision of an adult.
