Krannert Center for the Performing Arts’ Youth Series Preview and Educator Appreciation Event is scheduled for April 30 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Krannert lobby.
The free event celebrates the 2024-45 performances aimed at schoolchildren. All teachers, school district administrators and parents who homeschool their children are welcome to attend.
According to Krannert officials, the center’s Youth Series “is dedicated to sharing the life-afforming power of live performance with school communities throughout central Illinois. Through the Youth Series, children and youth experience meaningful artistry, encounter the breadth of genres in the performing arts and move toward deeper intercultural understanding. Study guides and curricular materials invite students to expand their understanding of the artists and art forms and to explore their own creativity through classroom activities. Artists often engage the students in meaningful dialogue after their performance, which further enhances the educational experience.”
The April 30 preview event includes drinks and snacks in a casual setting. Check in begins at 4 p.m. with remarks at 4:10. An RSVP is requested by April 28.
“We know how hard our teachers work every day to support young people, and we’d like to take a moment to lift them up, to say, thank you, and to show them a little love,” said Emily Laugesen, Krannert Center’s Artistic Programming Curator and Director of Community Engagement. “We’ll have tasty snacks and wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy while we look ahead to our plans for youth-oriented performing arts programming for the 2024-25 school year.”
