Willard Airport in Savoy will host a “pop-up” enrollment event for the Global Entry program on Sept. 12-14.
Appointments are expected to book quickly; interested applicants should act accordingly.
The Global Entry program is part of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency and allows fliers easy re-entry to the country after traveling abroad. It “allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter the United States through automatic kiosks at select airports. At airports, program members proceed to Global Entry kiosks, present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingerprints on the scanner for fingerprint verification and complete a customs declaration. The kiosk issues the traveler a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to baggage claim and the exit.”
To apply for membership in the program, start here. When following the prompts, you will eventually book an appointment time at Willard for the Sept. 12-14 period.
