The Main Scoop, with locations in Mahomet and Monticello, has announced it will open in Urbana this year
The popular ice cream shop will be scooping up delights in the heart of Urbana in 2023
“We found another Main Street without ice cream, and we wanted to fix that …” were the words that began the announcement on The Main Scoop Facebook page on Sunday morning. Owners Jessica and Nick Hanson will open a location in Urbana, featuring the same delicious Capannari ice cream customers can currently find at their locations in Mahomet and Monticello.
The first location in Mahomet opened in 2021 and has been a staple ever since. In May 2023, the Monticello location opened, selling the same hand-dipped ice cream. The Main Scoop gets its ice cream from Capannaris, a family-owned and operated ice cream shop in the Chicago suburb of Mount Prospect. Some flavors are always available at The Main Scoop and others rotate in periodically. They feature dairy-free, dye-free and and gluten-free selections, so there is truly something for everyone. There is always a sprinkle shaker at the counter, so you can add the desired level of sprinkles you want to your ice cream!
Prices range from $3 for a single kids’ scoop to $6.25 for an adult three-scoop. A complete list of flavors can be found at this link.
The atmosphere at Main Scoop can be described as vibrant and fun, a place for people to gather and hang out. There are board games to play and plenty of tables inside and out for consumers to enjoy their ice cream. You can also order ice cream cakes or purchase a bottle of soda.
Stay tuned for updates from The Main Scoop.
