Families can choose from a myriad of events and activities this week in Champaign-Urbana

It is Mother’s Day weekend! That means that, this weekend more than ever, it is a great reason to celebrate and enjoy special time with (or without) your loved ones, depending on what your mom’s day plans look like. Reading this and thinking about what to do for a special mom in your life? (Ahem, dads.) Get some ideas here on how to make this weekend special, on any budget. Hint: Mom doesn’t want to cook for as much of this weekend as possible.

Finding a spot to eat may be challenging, as this is also graduation weekend at the University of Illinois, but we have some guidance for you here on finding a spot for Mother’s Day brunch.

Urbana Park District wants you to know that you can buy 2023 memberships and passes to Crystal Lake Park Family Aquatic Center.

Buy a season-long membership or purchase a five or 10-admission punch pass. Buy the memberships and passes in person at Phillips Recreation Center or Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. Passes are valid from May 27 – September 4, 2023.

Champaign-Urbana Herb Society

Saturday, May 13, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or sell out)

The Champaign-Urbana Herb Society annual Herb Sale will be held inside Lincoln Square, Urbana. All herbs are $3 each (except for Bay Laurel and Scented Genrauniums) – cash or check only, please. Their annual herb sale is their only fundraising event and has become a much anticipated community tradition. Proceeds from the plant sale will go towards book donations to area libraries, mini-grants to schools and non-profit organizations, and to our educational public herb garden at Meadowbrook Park.
