Bigfoot has been spotted in Central Illinois, and on March 15 you’ll get a chance to hunt him down.
Allerton Park in Monticello is hosting a Bigfoot Hunt for the most adventuresome among us, giving you a chance to spot the legendary beast. According to legend, Bigfoot — also known as Sasquatch — is a tall, ape-like creature that roams the forests of the continent. His existence might be doubted by some, but as Allerton noted, Illinois ranks fifth in Bigfoot sightings, according to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. (In case you’re wondering, there have been 302 “on record.”)
Here are the details: From 7-8 p.m. on March 15, your group can search the clues through the Allerton trails in search of the big fella. Be sure to negotiate any “tricks” that might pop up to fool you. Rumor has it that the Bigfoot that inhabits Allerton could have some treats to pass out. (UPDATE: as of late Sunday night, eventbrite is saying the event is “sold out.”)
The cost is $10 per group. Register here, and only the leader of the group needs a paid ticket. Bring your flashlight and gather in the main parking lot by 7 p.m. to receive a map and some tips on where he was last spotted.
Good luck — and don’t forget, if you find him, make sure you post it to social media so everyone knows Bigfoot is real and that YOU found him!
