Effective immediately, Lodgic Champaign’s restaurant and cafe have closed permanently, chambanamoms.com has learned.
The closure impacts Everyday Kitchen Restaurant, Bar and Café, as well as the Christmas cocktail lounge pop-up, Miracle Bar, which debuted on November 25 and was scheduled to run through the end of December.
Lodgic’s Workplace and Kids Camp operations remain open for business. Workplace features private offices, coworking, conference rooms, temporary offices and more. Kids Camp offers full-time, part-time, or scheduled hourly childcare available for children up to 12 years old.
This sign was posted on the door on Wednesday.
Patrons who had booked reservations at Everyday Kitchen Restaurant, Bar and Café, as well as Miracle Bar, received the following email message on Tuesday:
We regret to inform you that Everyday Kitchen Restaurant. Bar. Café. and Miracle Bar have permanently closed effective December 5, 2022. We are exceedingly grateful to our team members who embodied our values in pursuit to Do a Little Good Everyday and for your patronage over the past 4 years. If you had made a reservation, please understand you will need to make plans elsewhere. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience.
Everyday Kitchen was notable for its unique menu options – it most recently included a horseshoe, one of few in Champaign-Urbana — and its elegant dining room filled with influences by local artists. The chambanamoms.com team recalls fondly some of our favorite items from years ago, including the beet salad, the signature “Chocolate Moose” dessert, and the trio of tots appetizer.
One of our more recent favorites was the “BFD” Bavarian Pretzel. The size of a dinner plate, it was baked-to-order, big enough to feed four, and served with housemade cheese sauce and spicy mustard.
The restaurant, bar and cafe were a key component of Lodgic’s unique formula, which combined coworking, childcare, and cuisine under one roof.
Lodgic Everyday Community opened in Champaign in 2018, with a revolutionary concept – a place where families could work, eat, and have flexible childcare options. Here’s a review of the restaurant when it opened in 2018.
Lodgic has since opened two other locations, in Louisville, Kentucky and Madison, Wisconsin.
A spinout of fraternal lodge Moose International, Lodgic Everyday Community’s profits are funneled back into the charity. A portion go to help Mooseheart, a residential childcare facility that is home for children and teens in need, located in Aurora.
This is a developing story. We will add more to it as we learn more.
