A new COVID-19 testing site has opened on the University of Illinois campus.
The site, at Campus Recreation Center East, is conducting free testing under the auspices of SHIELD Illinois.
Testing is available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments, which can be made online, are encouraged but not required.
Anyone seeking a test should use the east entrace of CRCE, which faces Allen Hall, instead of the main entrance. Free parking is available at marked metered spaces along Dorner Drive on the south side of CRCE.
Results typically are available in 24-48 hours via email.
While the testing site is open to anyone, all university students, faculty and staff who are required to test weekly may not use this location at CRCE to be in compliance with that requirement. Those individuals must continue to use the testing site at the Illini Union, operated by the university.
