We have almost made it to spring break. And we have made it to the weekend of Daylight Savings Time! And first on the list of “spring things” to get ready for is spring break, happening right around the corner. Find our comprehensive list of things to do if you are looking for some fun around Champaign-Urbana. If you’re looking for spring break camps, there are a few of those open for registration now. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before bed on Saturday, and have fun celebrating the extra daylight in the evenings!

Ready, Set, Connect! Free Developmental Screenings
United Way of Champaign County, Birth-5 Illinois, and the Champaign County Home Visiting Consortium are offering free developmental screenings for children from birth to five years old. These screenings assess communication, social, and motor skills to help families track their child’s development.
Screenings will be available at multiple locations across Champaign County on the following dates:
- Urbana – Every Tuesday & Friday
- Rantoul – April 9
- Mahomet – March 12 & April 9
- St. Joseph – April 23 (Register here)
- Philo – April 24
- Thomasboro – April 28 (Register here)
- Tolono Public Library – April 2 (Register here) (Walk-ins accepted)
These screenings provide valuable insights into early childhood development and connect families with helpful resources. Schedule your child’s screening today and support their bright future!

Read Across America
This event will take place on Saturday, March 8 inside of Lincoln Square Mall beginning at 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Join the Urbana Park District and more than 40 local businesses and organizations to celebrate literacy! Hands-on activities, story-tellers, costumed characters, toddler area, local celebrity greeters, and books read in multiple languages make this event a family favorite. The first 1,000 children who attend will receive a free bag and a book of their choice!

Camp of the Week – Indian Acres Swim Club
Indian Acres Swim Day Camp is the longest standing day camp in the C-U area, known for its excellence in swim instruction. They meet your child in their current skills and work with them at their level to increase confidence and ability in the water. Now offering a full day option in addition to their very popular 1/2 day option! Indian Acres Swim Day Camp is a traditional outdoor camp that focuses on physical activity and fun!
