A new bakery and deli is coming to downtown Champaign this fall, the fourth local restaurant currently owned and operated by Lauren and Jeffrey Brokish.
The Brokishes, who are also proprietors of CI Bakehouse, Pekara Bakery and Bistro, and Martinelli’s Market in Bloomington, plan to open Martinelli’s Market in Champaign in early September.
The new Champaign market will offer a full deli case featuring house roasted meats along with cheeses from local vendors.
In addition to a classic deli sandwich menu, Martinelli’s Market will feature the full line of CI Bakehouse baked goods, and pantry items from their Farmers Market neighbors. They also plan to offer catering services.
Jeffrey Brokish said their intended theme is “breads with spreads.” He added that customers will find “a curated selection of pantry items from local partners and some of our favorite fellow artisan food businesses from around the world.”
This includes olive oils, peanut butters, mustards, jams, relishes, pickles and many more delicious items that pair extremely well with breads.
Martinelli’s Market will be located in the New Market Commons at 500 N. Walnut St., and will include limited indoor seating and a large covered outdoor patio.
Jeffrey Brokish’s grandparents owned the original Martinelli’s Market in Wisconsin for nearly 50 years after World War II. The pair say they look forward to continuing the family legacy of a family owned market that serves fresh and delicious deli and bakery items.
Martinelli’s Market in Champaign will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information and updates, follow Martinelli’s Market on Facebook and Instagram at @martinellismarketchampaign.
