In 2010, Champaign native Katherine Reutter made a name for herself by earning two medals in short track speedskating at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Now she’s in the spotlight again, this time as part of the TV broadcast team for coverage of the sport during the ongoing Beijing Olympics.
Reutter — whose last name since her marriage is Reutter-Adamek — has appeared multiple times on the networks of NBC (USA Network, CNBC, NBC), which is the rights-holder for the Olympic Games, and is scheduled for more appearances before the games conclude. Her next assignment is Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 6-7:30 a.m. CST on USA Network. (Beijing is 14 hours ahead of CST.) The coverage will be tape-delayed that night on NBC, from 7:30-8 p.m. It will include analysis of the women’s 1,500 meters and the men’s 5,000-meter relay.
Check out our interview with Katherine’s mom, Beth, from 2010.
