Urbana Park District offers fall schedule that includes public swim times seven days a week at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center
Oh, how we’ve missed you, Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. While the facility has been available on a limited basis during the past 18 months for swim teams and exercisers, starting on Sept. 8 it will reopen to the general public seven days a week.
The fall schedule at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center (UIAC) will run Sept. 8 thru Dec. 16, 2021:
- Lap swim/Water classes: Monday-Friday, 6-8 a.m.; 11 a.m.-1 p.m
- Weekday public swim: Monday-Friday, 6-9 p.m.
- Weekend public swim: Saturdays, noon-5 p.m.; Sundays, 2-7 p.m.
UIAC currently plans to remain open during winter break (Dec. 17-Jan. 2), with extended public swim hours on weekdays from 1:30-9 p.m. Check the website for UIAC or follow the Urbana Park District on social media for any pool closures or schedule changes related to swim meets, school events or staffing issues.
Patrons can register for water exercise classes or swim lessons through the Urbana Park District. Those interested in working at the UIAC as lifeguards or support staff are encouraged to apply for jobs at any time during the year.
Masks are currently required inside the facility when patrons are not swimming. Other safety precautions that patrons should be aware of: drinking fountains are off, and swimming equipment is not available to be borrowed. However, the locker rooms, changing areas, and showers are all open; water slides and toddler spray area will be operating during public swim times; and no capacity restrictions are currently in effect. (This information is accurate at time of publishing; call the UIAC at 217-384-7665 with any questions.)
UIAC Admission Fees for Fall 2021: $6 to swim, $3 for people to enter but not swim, kids under 3 are free. Punch cards available for multiple visits. Thursday admission is only $4.
