Willard Airport announced Friday that American Airlines was suspending service from Willard to Charlotte effective Oct. 6, 2021.
“While removing this destination is unfortunate,” Willard’s statement said, “we will continue to work closely with American Airlines to fulfull the travel needs of our community. We will retain our service to Chicago O’Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth.”
Passengers who have booked travel after Oct. 6 should contact American Airlines for assistance.
AA began service to Charlotte in December 2018. The direct flight made for easier access to eastern and southern destinations for business travelers, among others. Flights consisted of an early morning departure to Charlotte with an evening return to Savoy. Charlotte’s airport is American Airlines’ second-largest hub, surpassing Chicago and just behind Dallas-Fort Worth.
