If you have a child starting kindergarten this August in Champaign or Urbana schools, a free camp can prepare them for their first school experience.
Unit 4’s Kindergarten Readiness Camps will focus on getting kindergarteners ready in advance of the school year, with the sessions running for three hours a day (9 a.m.-noon) on weekdays. They’ll take place at Westview Elementary and Dr. Howard Elementary, though all Unit 4 kindergarten enrollees at eligible.
Included in each camp is a Family Night, comprised of a family dinner and activities. Childcare is provided for siblings.
Registration is required and can be accomplished by calling the Center for Family and Community Engagement at (217) 351-3701 or emailing grayam@u4sd.org.
All incoming kindergarten students in Urbana #116 Schools are invited to participate in Kindergarten Readiness Camp from Monday-Thursday, 9 – 11:30 a.m. June 7-10, 2021 at Dr. Williams Elementary School. The program is free for all incoming kindergarten students in preparation for Fall 2021.
To follow Covid-19 protocols, space in the program may be limited. Priority for seating will be given to students with no prior preschool experience, emerging bilingual learners, and students needing additional transition support.
Families should sign up by Monday, May 24, 2021 by following this link: http://bit.ly/KRCamp116 . For more information about Urbana’s Kindergarten Readiness Camp, please contact Andrea Jackson at ajackson@usd116.org or 217-384-3565.
