We asked our readers where they go for their favorite soup in Champaign-Urbana and beyond, and they did not disappoint.  While we received nods to McAlister’s Deli, Houlihan’s, Olive Garden, Chili’s, O’Charley’s, and Panera Bread, we focus on locally owned restaurants or businesses around Champaign-Urbana and beyond.  (This list is in alphabetical order.)

Aroma Cafe, Champaign: “Aroma always has great soups, I love the tomato bisque with spinach and orzo.”   Always warming & delicious: Aroma Cafe’s Tomato-Basil soup. And they have great 1/2 & 1/2 combos of soups, salads, and sandwiches (Cubans, too!) to pair it with. [Aroma is now sharing space with Cowboy Monkey with their beautiful plaza for outdoor dining so it is just around the corner from their previous Neil St location.]

Bunny’s Tavern, Urbana: “Bunny’s has really yummy made from scratch soups! Everyday they have chili and most days a soup of the day as well. Seriously, very good!”  “Bunny’s….mmm…their chili!”

Rainbow Garden, Champaign: “Hot and sour at Rainbow Gardens.” “As for soup, the sizzling rice soup from Rainbow Garden is delicious–full of veggies, proteins, and the same kind of rice you might find in a crispy chocolate bar. My kids like eating the sizzling rice plain from the takeaway container. I love the sizzling rice!”

Seven Saints, Champaign: “Seven Saint’s Tomato Bisque Soup is so good! Especially good ordered with the cheese curds!”” Chicken Tortilla AND their Brie Soup!”  “I love Seven Saints’ chili.”
