Holiday Food Favorites You Can Find Around Champaign-Urbana

2020 has been one for the record books, that’s for sure, but at least we can finally appreciate the holiday food favorites that come around this time of year. We’ve searched high and low to find some of Champaign-Urbana’s best small business treats.

We hope that you will appreciate this collection of holiday goodies and refreshments designed to spice up your Saturday morning breakfasts, your holiday treats, or your tokens of appreciation for friends, neighbors, or co-workers.

Art Mart, Champaign: Be on the lookout for Art Mart’s eggnog gooey butter bars and ginger cookies. They will also feature panettone, stollen, German cookies, new holiday macarons, Christmas petit fours, and chocolate Hanukkah coins.

Hopscotch Bakery + Market, Champaign: Hopscotch is offering a gingerbread spiced cake with salted caramel cookie butter buttercream frosting, a champagne sugar plum cake, as well as a dark chocolate peppermint ganache cake. Check out their white chocolate peppermint hot cocoa for the kids, or add espresso for the adults.

Industrial Donut, Savoy: Be on the lookout for a special holiday themed donut box (1/2 dozen or 1 dozen, minimum 24-hour notice) from Industrial Donut. Or try their Stay at HO-HO-HOme Family Fun Mini Donut Bar, one dozen donuts that come with icings and holiday sprinkle toppings for you to combine at home. We hear that their peppermint hot chocolate is also a popular holiday favorite. Open until noon Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas Day.

Jarling’s Custard Cup, Champaign: “We look forward to Jarling’s peppermint custard all year long.  We absolutely love it topped with cold fudge or try it blended in a snowstorm with Oreo pieces.” Jarling’s plans to feature their peppermint flavor this year during the weeks of December 13 and December 20.

Pandamonium Doughnuts, Champaign: Look for December monthly specials such as Egg Nog Wreaths (egg nog cake), Gingerbread, Sugar Cookie, Holiday Sprinkles, Egg Nog Yeast, Chocolate Peppermint (vegan), Hot Cocoa (yeast style doughnut), Strawberry Champagne (NYE special), and Champagne Clementine (NYE special). Look for new drink specials such as Peppermint Mochas, Egg Nog Lattes, Peppermint Hot Cocoa, and Gingerbread Lattes.

Pies by Inge, Monticello: Be sure to check out Pies by Inge’s Friday night pie flights. Patrons choose either 4 or 8 pieces of different flavors of pie. Seasonal pies such as cranberry walnut, apple cranberry crunch, and fruits of the forest pie (apples, strawberries, blackberries, rhubarb and raspberries) will be available during the holidays.

Sidney Dairy Barn, Sidney: “A favorite for sure!” The Sidney Dairy Barn will feature their pink peppermint ice cream on December 5/6 for the upcoming holiday season.

The New Sweet Indulgence, Champaign: “If you haven’t tried Sweet Indulgence’s red velvet cinnamon rolls, this should be the year that you try them.” They will hit the ovens on December 1 this year.
