You can’t get into the State Farm Center or the Virginia Theatre for events these days, but those venues are offering the opportunity to enjoy their food.
The Virginia Theatre recently began its Friday and Saturday program of “Curbside Concessions.” Customers can place an order online then pick it up at a reserved time from 4-7 p.m. on Friday or Saturday. Popcorn, candy and drinks are available — the same options the Virginia offers to patrons for its shows.
Order online here. Limited space is available for each time slot so order early. Customers should park in front of the theatre on Park Street within 15 minutes of their reserved time, call (217) 356-9063 and wait for your concessions to be brought to your car.
The program is in place each Friday and Saturday evening with the exception of July 3-4.
The State Farm Center, in partnership with official food service provider of UI athletics Spectra, recently announced it has made available food items in a “weekly drive-thru service.” Each week fans can place advance orders from several menu options, plus select bulk food items at wholesale prices. Orders will be available for pick-up each week from 3-6 p.m. on Thursdays in a drive-thru process on the east circle drive of the State Farm Center. Orders must be placed by 3 p.m. each Tuesday for Thursday pick-up. (Order here.)
The operation will raise funds for the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Employee Relief Fund, created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
