Staff from the Champaign and Urbana public libraries will browse their shelves just for you
Updated 6/5/2020
Staff at the Champaign Public Library is making it easier for kids to find interesting materials by assembling “book bundles” for curbside pickup.
The process is simple: Tell them what you’re looking for — including the type of item (books, DVDs, audiobooks, etc.) — age or grade, and topics of interest. Your request will be filled by reading experts from the library’s Children’s Services staff.
Examples: “Four books about butterflies for a second grader” or “Three fantasy stories for someone who likes Harry Potter” or “Books even a reluctant reader might like.” Insider tip: they are fantastic at bundling books for those ever-reluctant teen readers as well!
Fill out the form here. If you know exactly which title(s) you want, place a hold through the library’s catalog.
When your book bundle is ready for pickup, you’ll receive a message by phone or email. Patrons can call (217) 403-2000 (3-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 1-4 p.m. Friday-Sunday) to set up contactless pickup using the curbside delivery service, available daily at the main library.
On June 3, The Urbana Free Library announced “Books and More! Bundles.” Fill out this online form, and “library staff will find a stack of great materials for you to come pick up using contact free Curbside Pickup!” You can get as specific as you want with your request and can choose from a wide variety of formats (telescopes? wow!).
Expanded curbside pickup hours at the Urbana Free Library, effective June 1, are Mon-Thu 9-7, Fri-Sat 9-5, Sun 1-4.
