If you are wondering what the procedures are for visiting convenient care with COVID restrictions in place, or questioning if your child’s appointment is essential or non-essential, we have some answers.
Dr. Ben Johnston from Christie Clinic chatted with us about what you need to know to visit convenient care or the emergency department while COVID restrictions are in place. He explained that common examples of convenient care visits include medication refills, scrapes, bruises, common cold, abdominal pain of more than an hour, UTI, asthma exacerbation, lacerations, ear infection, sinus infections, etc. Examples of visits that would best be suited in the emergency department include cardiac chest pain, severe headache with fever, extremity deformity, extremity pain or injury with significant loss of function, mental status changes, and syncope/fainting, etc.
This short yet information-filled interview will help you consider which appointments should be considered essential and would still warrant a visit with a provider or convenient care.
