This time of staying in place and quarantining can bring up a wide mix of emotions — in children and adults alike — and art can be a great way to showcase creativity and express oneself. Chambanamoms, Krannert Art Museum, KOOP Adventure Play, Museum of the Grand Prairie, and the City of Urbana Arts and Culture Program are collaborating on various initiatives to ensure creative engagement and community connection for the whole family.
We invite you to create and submit digital images of artwork in whatever art medium you chose (2D, 3D, crayons, paint, clay, etc). Once you have finished your expressive piece, we ask that a parent or guardian take a picture to display it on the Facebook event page.
To learn more about the story behind the artwork, older artists and guardians are invited to complete the submission form detailing information about the artwork. Teachers can fill out the form if submitting for an entire class or school. Pieces gathered from this project will be compiled and displayed in a video airing on Urbana Public Television and archived by Museum of the Grand Prairie for potential use as future historical documents. Students of all ages around Champaign County are encouraged to submit their artwork. Submit the story behind the artwork here.
