Buy T-Shirts, Help the Champaign-Urbana Small Business Community – and Others
Love to shop local? Love T-shirts? Don’t miss out on the new Weiskamp Shop Local Online Store, an initiative to support Champaign-Urbana area local small businesses, bars and restaurants, especially those that are having to temporarily close or drastically alter their operations due to the stay at home order.
Weiskamp is printing limited edition T-shirts with logo and giving a portion of the sales to those businesses. As of May 27, over 100 Champaign-Urbana area organizations and local businesses have shirts in the online store.
Chambanamoms.com – long a Weiskamp customer and a small business itself – is proud to be part of this initiative. You can check out the chambanamoms.com shirt HERE.
Weiskamp has kept the artwork shirt options simple to help maximize the money generated.
“For full transparency, each shirt costs $20. $7 will go directly to the establishment represented on your shirt. $4 will go to the employees at Weiskamp Screen Printing, and the remainder will be put towards production and shipping costs,” Weiskamp’s website says.
Some of the businesses have offered various incentives to those who purchase their shirts, such as a future discount on purchase or other benefit.
Proceeds of chambanamoms.com shirts will go to the Champaign County COVID-19 Relief Fund launched by the United Way of Champaign County and the Community Foundation of East Central Illinois. (On March 30, the COVID-19 Relief Fund announced an allocation of $4,000 to Champaign Unit 4 and Urbana Unit 116 school districts to support the distribution of home learning supplies to students in need.)
There are three options for the shirts; the Heather Blue T-shirt with a Navy Blue print is the “signature combination,” as blue was the number one color shirt ordered by Weiskamp customers last year. They are also available in a Graphite Heather or White shirt option.
Weiskamp originally hoped that customers could have shirts within 7-10 days of placing an order, but “that will be dependent on the ability to receive shipments and for production to be in the shop. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate the logistics of this.” On May 25, Weiskamp announced their hopes to get back in their shop and re-start production on May 29.
If you are a business that would like to be included in the community shop, send a note to email@weiskamp.com.
