The South Prospect corridor between Windsor and Curtis Roads will reopen to traffic on Wednesday.
It’s been a long time in the making. The road was closed in late March, right after Spring Break, and has been in various stages of construction ever since.
Saying it’s a Thanksgiving miracle is perhaps a little overkill. But for Laurie Harney, a mom of three who lives in the Arbours, there’s no question that the reopening of South Prospect will have a significant impact on her daily comings and goings.
“It is a huge time saver! Having to wait on traffic on Windsor Road was awful and so dangerous,” Harney said Wednesday. “We are so grateful it’s open again. An extra 5-10 minutes in the morning will be amazing.”
What motorists will find is an expanded road, with a turn lane in the middle. Among the other improvements: storm sewers, street lighting and on-street bike lanes. Something new to pay attention to: an all-way stop at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Burwash/Pittsfield.
Although the road is open, the project isn’t completely finished.
