The HOT ROD Power Tour will return to Champaign next summer, bringing cars cruising into State Farm Center.
The tour typically features thousands of cars. It is scheduled to return on June 11, 2020.
It visited Champaign in June 2012, compiling the highest number of one-day registrations in tour history with more than 3,000 cars. In 2015 the tour visited Parkland College and again had the highest participation total with 3,700 cars. On the last visit, to State Farm Center in 2017, there were 4,000 registered.
Champaign will be the fifth stop on a seven-day tour, which starts in Norwalk, Ohio, on June 7, and concludes in Madison, Wis., on June 13. In addition to thousands of cars, Visit Champaign County president and CEO Jayne DeLuce anticipates 250 participating vendors at the State Farm Center.
“This event has been embraced by this community,” DeLuce said. “Each year we host, we hear from the attendees how much they enjoy their time in Champaign. The community has embraced this event and continues to benefit from the additional foot-traffic in area restaurants, shops and hotels.”
