Alessia Cara, who won the 2018 Grammy Award for Best New Artist, headlines four shows that have been added to the State Farm Center’s 2019 fall season.
Flo Rida, who hits include “Low” and “My House,” comedian Jim Gaffigan and rock band Young the Giant also will perform in October in Champaign.
They join the list of previously announced shows: The Head and The Heart, Miranda Lambert, MercyMe and the WCIA 3 Broadway Series.
Alessia Cara (Oct. 7) emerged onto the music scene in 2015 with her global anthem “Here.” The song became Spotify’s Most Viral Song of 2015, selling over three million copies. Alessia lent her voice to”How Far I’ll Go,”the official song for Disney’s animated film Moana, penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Her multi-platinum No. 1 hit single, “Scars to Your Beautiful,”is Cara’s gut-wrenching take on female identity. “Stay,”her No. 1 hit with Zedd, has sold over two million copies.
Jim Gaffigan (Oct. 17) is a four-time Grammy-nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer; two-time New York Times best-selling author; two-time Emmy winning top touring performer; and multi-platinum-selling recording artist.
In 2006, Flo Rida (Oct. 19) signed with Atlantic Records in and a short time later he started his own management company, Strong Arm. 2007 saw the success of his worldwide smash, “Low,” which went 8x Platinum. His other huge singles include, “My House,” “Wild Ones,” “Right Round,” “Club Can’t Handle Me,” and “Whistle.”
The fourth album from Young the Giant (Oct. 24), Mirror Master, is a layered meditation on identity in modern life, an emotionally charged look at the dangers of illusion and possibilities of freedom.
