Champaign-Urbana has no shortage when it comes to wonderful, locally owned businesses. If you’ve lived in #chambana for longer than a four-year degree, you might remember Bella Mia Boutique. First located in the Shoppes of Knollwood (near Champaign Jewelers), it then moved into a stand-alone building on Neil Street (currently Enchantment Alley).
Bella Mia Boutique was full of the top trends with a favorite shoe selection in town. Five years ago when Bella shut their doors many hoped it wasn’t forever. It appears its fans were in luck.
Bella’s owner Carmen Kirby said that when she closed the doors she knew it “wasn’t final.” She was waiting for the “right opportunity to reopen” and now has plans to reopen this spring in the Windsor Gallery Center, next to Sun Singer.
One of the most exciting parts for Kirby is that her daughter is relocating back home and plans to help run the day-to-day operations of the new store. The mother and daughter will also have an online presence to complement the brick and mortar store.
