Santa reveals his secrets during his recent stop in Champaign-Urbana.
It’s a busy time of year for the Jolly Old Elf, but that didn’t stop Santa Claus from taking time out of his day job at Market Place Mall in Champaign to answer some questions for us.
From his favorite cookie (the kind his grandma used to make) to the most unique gift request he’s gotten this year (prepare to say “awwww!!!”), we’ll tell you more about Santa and how he uses both magic and science to make holiday dreams come true year after year.
What are kids asking for this year?
Baby dolls, Nerf guns, Barbie dolls and Barbie Dreamhouses.
What’s the most unique request you’ve gotten?
One little boy asked me for Peace on Earth.
Do you have anything on your Christmas list?
I wish for Peace on Earth too.
How about Mrs. Claus. Will you get her anything for Christmas?
I’ll get Mrs. Claus lot’s of cookie ingredients. Sprinkles, chocolate chips, little walnuts, etc.
Is that for you or for her?
It’s for me and the elves! We have to feed the elves.
Do you have a favorite cookie?
My favorite cookie is an old elf recipe called “frifferschnippels” (sp?). They are very delicious and my grandma used to make them. My second favorite are chocolate chip cookies.
What’s your favorite part about being Santa?
I get to make people happy!
What’s the hardest part of your job?
Crying babies.
How does a kid get on the nice list?
Besides being nice, listening to mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and teachers. Going to bed at the right time. Eating vegetables is important too.
My eight year old daughter wants to know- how can you deliver all of those presents in one night?
I have my special watch that stops time. It works with the space time continuum that Einstein proposed in 1905- it’s the Theory of General Relativity.
She also wants to know how your sleigh flies?
We use the space time continuum in congruency with gravity and electromagnetism. And we can make gravity go backwards by using special magic dust.
Well this has all been very educational. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Anything else you’d like to add?
Merry Christmas!
