Enrollment for Global Entry, a program designed to expedite entry into the United States for low-risk, pre-screened international travelers at 40 major U.S. airports, is coming to Willard Airport in Savoy.
The program was developed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and allows members entering the country to proceed directly to the automated Global Entry kiosk, thus bypassing passport control lines and paper customs declarations.
The enrollment period at Willard will be from 8 a.m.-4:45 p.m. each day from Sept. 5-7. To start the process, potential members will need to apply for conditional approval online and pay the non-refundable application fee of $100. It is important to apply as soon as possible as the initial screening currently takes about 30 days to process.
After receiving the initial approval you will be able to select an appointment time for your interview with a Customs and Border Protection officer at Willard. The officer will make the final determination of eligibility.
An added bonus to Global Entry: Applicants that are approved and assigned a known traveler
number will automatically be registered for TSA PreCheck.
