Looking for something to do this weekend, indoors? Escape the perpetual gray skies and threats of rain by heading to the movies. And not just any movie, but The Greatest Showman. And here’s the best part: you can take the kids, who will be able to sing “This is Me” at the top of their little lungs.
That’s because The Greatest Showman Sing-along returns to movie theaters this weekend.Showtimes are only available through Tuesday, and this appears to be a limited engagement.
Showings include 11:35 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. at the Savoy 16 (tip: go to the 4:20 pm showing for the bargain twilight pricing of $6.50 per ticket). At the AMC Champaign 13, the movie will be screened at 4:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. (The 4:45 p.m. showing is a bargain at less than $6 per ticket).
I’ve seen The Greatest Showman in the theater THREE TIMES. I can’t remember another movie I’ve seen as often as an adult. It’s a great family outing; even my kindergartener is enthralled with it. The music is that catchy, that accessible, that infectious.
The reason? The music. It’s all about the music. It’s why we go back again and again, to hear the music in the context of the film, with the dancing – a true feast for the eyes and ears.
Will we go back for the Sing-Along? Um, without a doubt. (If you haven’t seen the movie or heard the songs, you can listen to them for free on YouTube.)
“It’s everything you’ll ever want, it’s everything you’ll ever need. It’s here right in front of you. So come with me and take the ride.” – The Greatest Showman
