Milo’s Restaurant in Urbana, which had previously revealed its plans to close, announced a closing date on its Facebook page on Thursday.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing date of Milo’s,” the post says. “After more than 20 years in Urbana, we will close at the end of the business day on Sunday, Feb. 25.”
Milo’s grew into a popular locally owned establishment, first at its earlier location adjacent to the Lincoln Square Mall. In recent years, it moved to The Pines along Philo Road in Urbana.
The restaurant’s owners also owned the now-closed Escobar’s in Champaign, and a few of the menu favorites at Escobar’s were incorporated into the Milo’s menu since its closing.
“Please come by and see us in the next month and try some of Milo’s and Escobar’s favorites one more time,” the post said.
Milo’s departures continues a string of recent closings among non-chain restaurants in C-U, a list that includes Za’s, Brixx and Minneci’s at the Crossing.
