What’s better than free pizza?
Blaze Pizza, the new fast-casual, fast-fired pizza joint, will offer customers free pizza on Friday, Jan. 19, as part of its opening week festivities. Blaze (2610 N. Prospect Ave., next to Aaron’s) will open on Thursday, a 2,300 square-foot restaurant with seating for 48 plus a patio.
A day later Blaze will provide free pizza for those who visit (10:30 a.m.-11 p.m.) and follow the brand on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
Blaze has a varied pizza menu, with a build-your-own compilation that includes seven different cheeses (goat and vegan among them), 17 veggies, seven meats and 10 sauces. It says pizzas are “fast-fire’d” for “180 seconds.” Blaze does not charge for each topping; 11-inch pizzas generally are $6 to $8.
A couple notes about Blaze: It has developed a fundraiser that returns 20 percent of an event’s proceeds to local organizations, and will partner with schools, sports clubs and other organizations to host fundraising events.
The Champaign restaurant also is constructed with recycled and sustainable materials, uses eco-friendly packaging, and features energy-efficient LED lighting.
