Less than two months after ALDI opened its new Savoy location with great fanfare, the discount grocer will celebrate the re-opening of its north Urbana location.
ALDI’s Urbana location has been in Urbana since 2006. The store closed briefly while under construction, but is now back open, sources tell chambanamoms.com. The Urbana store is located at 3102 E. University Ave. not far from the Urbana Wal-Mart.
To celebrate the reopening of the newly updated store in Urbana, ALDI will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10. Following the ceremony, the first 100 shoppers will receive a golden ticket, each containing ALDI gift cards of various amounts.
The new ALDI store “look delivers on its customers’ desire for a modern and convenient shopping experience with a focus on fresh items, including more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections, and more room for customers’ favorite products,” said a news release.
Remodeled stores will also feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials – such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.
The company has now completed renovating its Champaign-Urbana area stores.
