It’s another made up marketing holiday – which means, FREE and CHEAP FOOD in CHAMPAIGN-URBANA! I hear that National Sandwich Day actually has its origins in the birthday of the Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, who made up this food in 1762.
Freebies and cheapies:
Subway: Customers at participating Subway locations get a free sub when purchasing one sub of equal or greater value and a 30 oz. drink. For every free sub given to customers, Subway is providing one free meal to the Feeding America network of food banks.
Penn Station East Coast Subs: This chain with a location on North Prospect is offering any 6-inch sub for $3.99 starting at 4:00 p.m. on November 3. Limit 1 per customer.
McAlister’s Deli: The McAlister’s Club sandwich will be priced at $4 in honor of National Sandwich Day on Friday at Champaign-Urbana location across from Hobby Lobby.
Firehouse Subs: The first 50 guests to order a Hook & Ladder on Nov. 3 will receive a coupon for free chips and drink with any sub purchase on their next visit. That freebie offer is good until November 30, 2017. Good at the Firehouse Subs Prospect Ave. location (on Anthony Dr.) in Champaign.
Fine print: these are national deals, so we haven’t confirmed them with every store in Champaign-Urbana and beyond. When in doubt, call ahead. Enjoy!
