From the Editors
If you are an Urbana Free Library cardholder, you now have the option to check out more than just books — and the news is like music to some parents’ ears.
The library announced last week it would offer a music equipment collection for children.
The collection, which includes kid favorites like egg shakers, bells, tambourines, and drums, is designed for small or large group activities. Each set of instruments also comes with extension activities such as teacher resource guides, CD’s, and books.
There are 20 different types of musical instruments available for checkout. To see a complete list, go here.
For the older crowd, the UFL is also offering a new circulating music collection that includes an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar and amplifiers.
More instruments will be added to this collection soon, such as an electronic drum tool, guitar effects pedals, digital music tools and more.
These materials may be checked out for two weeks with up to five renewals, depending on other requests by another borrower.
In addition to the library’s new music collections, cardholders also have access to much more including Productivity, Crafts, Hands-on Science Kits, and Video Game Collections.
