On Tuesday, we told you about Katrina Williams, an employee at McDonald’s in Mahomet who is loved by her customers for the positive attitude she exudes every day that she works in the drive-through. You can read that post here.
Members of the Mahomet community and her grateful customers decided to come together to show Williams their appreciation with an event, Giving Back to the ‘Nice Lady’ at Mahomet McDonald’s.
The event was an opportunity for Williams’ customers to show their appreciation for her and invited people to go through the drive-through May 15-16 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to drop off gift cards, flowers, thank-you cards or any other expression of gratitude.
But one of Williams’ fellow co-workers at McDonald’s wrote a comment on the Facebook event page that got everyone’s attention. She suggested Williams could use something more than gift cards and flowers.
“I work with Trina and I know she would appreciate any gifts you would give her, but if you really want to do something special for her, maybe as a group, she has something she really needs.”
The co-worker went on to say that Williams is currently without a home and looking for a house that is big enough for her family. Williams has six children.
“She would never ask for help herself, but if anybody deserves this, it would be her. She always puts other people first, so we should try to put her first for once,” the co-worker wrote.
And that’s when members of the community decided to take their goal of giving back to their favorite McDonald’s employee one step further.
A YouCaring Fund has been set up to help Trina — “the nice lady at McDonald’s” — find housing. A goal of $1,500 has been established. As of Wednesday morning, more than one-third of the goal had been raised. If you’d like to donate to the campaign, go here.
Customers are also still encouraged to stop by McDonald’s May 15 or 16 to participate in the Giving Back to the ‘Nice Lady’ at Mahomet McDonald’s event.
