Ever since the Chicago Cubs announced that their World Series trophy would be traveling to fans during a victory tour this winter and spring, Champaign-Urbana has been waiting with eager anticipation for a date.
Get ready Cubs fans: the World Series Trophy will make its Champaign-Urbana appearance here on Saturday, February 4. Not surprisingly, the trophy will be visiting the State Farm Center in Champaign. The Chicago Cubs Trophy Tour is, after all, sponsored by State Farm.
As for the visit, there’s no word on any detail except that the trophy will be at the Illini men’s basketball game against Minnesota, which tips off at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Guess what, friends: tickets are still available (but maybe not for long, so don’t wait).
It remains to be seen if there will be a way to see the trophy outside of the Illini game environment. We will announce any more details as they are shared.
The World Series Trophy, also known as the Commissioner’s Trophy, has been busy already this winter.
If you miss the Champaign visit, the trophy is also scheduled to visit Springfield on Wednesday, March 8; no details have been announced for that location yet. For a full list of the announced stops (from Nebraska to Michigan to Iowa to Arizona and beyond) visit the Trophy Tour homepage.
