An indoor trampoline park is making plans to come to Champaign, chambanamoms.com has learned.
Get Air, an indoor trampoline park with dozens of locations worldwide, is in the preliminary stages of opening a facility in Champaign. The opening date and location are still to be determined, but the company has actively engaged with commercial real estate professionals and has already made the announcement via a Facebook page.
Jay Sikorski of Coldwell Banker Commercial Devonshire Realty in Champaign said Get Air is in the process of coming to town but no details have been finalized yet.
“Nothing has been completed as far as date or anything else of that nature,” he said.
Sikorski said Get Air has expressed interest in the former Champaign County YMCA Fitness & Family Center facility on Country Fair Drive but “nothing has been confirmed.”
An auto reply message on the Get Air Champaign Facebook page says, “We are still in the planning stages of development, but are excited to be coming to Champaign!”
On Oct. 24, Get Air addressed a question on its Facebook page regarding a timeline for the trampoline park opening in Champaign: “We have to get approval from the city and then we will start building. This can happen very quickly or take a while, so we don’t have a timeline quite yet.”
A call to the Get Air corporate office in Utah last week was not returned. According to the local Get Air Facebook page, updates on an opening date and location will be posted when plans are complete.
Get Air, which features wall-to-wall trampolines, a slack line, foam pits, a ninja course, and a kiddie court, has also announced plans to open locations in Rockford and Peoria soon.
Before this year, the closest indoor trampoline parks to Champaign were located on the west side of Indianapolis (see our review) and in south suburban Chicago. A Sky Zone park opened a few months ago in Springfield with construction also underway in Bloomington, Ill.
