The letters are out.
Parents of incoming kindergarteners in the Champaign Unit 4 School District have started receiving school assignments, with many households receiving notification through snail mail on Tuesday afternoon.
The results of the kindergarten lottery, as it is known, have been released.
Stephanie Stuart, Director of Communications & Community Relations for Champaign Unit 4 Schools, wrote in an email: “Letters are in the mail. We have contacted all families with assignments pending.”
The families we heard from were ecstatic with the results, saying “We just got ours today and thankfully are VERY happy!! :-)” and “Emily can walk to our neighborhood school!”
But we know that as it has happened in past years, some students remain unassigned.
As soon as the the district provides us with the numbers, we will share those.
“We will have a full update soon with stats, etc.,” Stuart wrote.
