Great Scott! This week marks the day that Marty McFly lands in the future: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015. Yes, for real; it is the exact date that Marty McFly travels to to prevent his children from making decisions that would jeopardize his family.
No hoax.
Of course we don’t have flying cars, or Perfect Pepsi. The Cubs are in the playoffs though. It’s time to go BACK TO THE FUTURE! Sounds like it’s time to party like it’s 1985. I don’t know about you, but I still quote from the original Back to the Future on a regular basis. (SAVE THE CLOCK TOWER! I had to get it out of my system).
So what to do? Celebrate! Here are a few ways to do so. In case you forgot, both movies are PG.
Go to a local movie showing:
— Go to the Virginia Theatre to see Back to the Future II at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night. Just $4! Show up in CUBS gear and get in FREE.
— The Carmike 13 Theater in Champaign is showing a double feature of Back to the Future and Back to the Future II on Wednesday night, starting at 7 p.m.
— It’s not the most kid-friendly time, but Champaign’s Art Theater will be showing Back to the Future Part II on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10 p.m. Take a picture with a real DeLorean in front of the theater! $5 tickets. Synopsis: After visiting 2015, Marty McFly must repeat his visit to 1955 to prevent disastrous changes to 1985 … without interfering with his first trip.
Watch the movie at home:
If you have an Amazon Prime membership: All three “Back To the Future” films, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, will be available for the month of October to Amazon Prime members to stream or download for no extra charge.

Root for the Cubs:
It’s only fitting that the Cubs will be playing in the NLCS Championship Series on Back to the Future Day. Of course, in those days, they really did play the World Series by now.
