Grease is perhaps one of the most memorable movies from my childhood. I knew every line, every song, every move. And now, the “Grease” Sing-a-Long Movie Event returns to the Virginia Theater on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m., and we couldn’t be more excited! 
This amazing event is a benefit for Courage Connection, formerly the Center for Women in Transition. General admission seating is $18 per person, and we have two tickets to give away — more on that later.
Why should you attend this event?
Grab your spouse, your best friend, or maybe one of your (older) kids and enjoy this experience. In addition to the main event – the movie – there will be a costume parade and contest as well as raffle and door prizes. There will be a car show before the movie, too. There is also a VIP rate with a reception, reserved seating, and more for $50 per ticket; and a post-movie party at Boltini. Tickets can be purchased online from the Virginia Theater box office.
More importantly, this event supports Courage Connection, which provides shelter and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or domestic violence. Courage Connection Homeless Services offers transitional housing for single women and for women with children, accommodating up to 7 single women and 12 women with children at any given time. In 2013 Courage Connection served:
• 694 unduplicated clients
• 137 children
• 313 clients received shelter
• 185 clients received assistance in obtaining an Order of Protection
• 195 clients received Domestic Violence counseling
• 816 hotline calls answered
Counseling, legal advocacy, and a parenting program are just some of the supportive services offered. There is also a 24-hour hotline that takes domestic violence calls 365 days a year, it can be reached at (217) 384-4390 or (877) 384-4390.
