5. S’mores. Need I say more? If I’m truly honest with myself, s’mores are the main reason I love to camp. It’s that simple. Chocolate + Graham crackers + marshmellows = bliss. You don’t need a fancy fire pit to do this, it’s as simple as a grill (charcoal or gas).
4. Reconnect with your family. Leave the screens behind, and get away from everyday life – all while never leaving the neighborhood. Let them stargaze – and set bedtimes aside.
3. Kids and flashlights. There are a few things cuter than seeing a kid with his/her first flashlight (except when they shine it in your eyes). Don’t forget the extra batteries (of course if you do forget, home is right …. well, you know).
2. It’s a great time to encourage imagination. Have your kids pretend they are camping in the wild – and have them make up stories about where. Somehow, the magic of a tent will encourage them to explore the backyard in ways they’ve never done before.
