CHAMPAIGN — Chambanamoms.com has confirmed that the jarringly loud sound heard far and wide over the city of Champaign around 9 p.m. the evening of Monday, March 21 was not a military aircraft as reported — but was an Unidentified Flying Object.
“Based on soil samples and evaluations of the vibrations from the aircraft, I can indeed confirm that there was a UFO over Champaign that evening,” said Joanne Manaster, a local science researcher/educator and former Chambana Mom to Know.
It was the @chambanamoms Twitter account that first suggested the presence of a UFO in Champaign.
The UFO’s resident aliens, tweeting under the name of @etphonechambana, contacted Chambanamoms.com after seeing reports in The News-Gazette of military aircraft in the area that night.
According to the aliens, they came to visit with the intention of attending a debate between Champaign mayoral candidates Don Gerard and Jerry Schweighart.
Upon realizing they had the wrong date, they quickly pulled up stakes, thus resulting in the loud noise heard mostly by Champaign residents (and a few in Urbana).
The Schweighart and Gerard campaigns declined to comment, though each reported that they had not received any campaign contributions from non-humans.
There is no word on whether the aliens plan to return for election day April 5. The @etphonechambana Twitter account has since been deactivated.
