For the first time in 12 years, the citizens of a Champaign have a choice for mayor. Wednesday, March 16 marked the first debate between the two candidates on the April 5 ballot: incumbent Jerry Schweighart and challenger Don Gerard.
The event was organized and hosted by the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana and moderated by Laura Weisskopf Bleill and Amy Hatch, co-founders of chambanamoms.com
For those of you who weren’t able to attend, WILL plans to air the mayoral debate at 7 p.m. tonight (March 17) on AM 580. You can also listen to the debate online at WILL.
